ATTACKING BENT POSTURE backwards throw opponent. By Graeme Spinks
Переглядів 9048 місяців тому
Attacking bent posture, it's difficult to throw because of the far proximity of the hips of opponent. One way is to forwards and down pressure opponent into a flex reaction like jumping on a pool spring board, and then release that pressure to throw off balance opponent backwards.

    it was more a freak accident than anything, even it the angle of the foot was a little different he probably wouldn't have broken his leg. Seems like a mix of not knowing how to properly break fall and just plain bad luck

      No, it’s a judo basic from training to face the opponent when you can, like stepping around a throw. This was a mistake by a young man never thrown hard at training, he hadn’t studied how to avoid getting thrown. We soon learn this in judo randori.

      absolutely correct. When the legs are too close they slam together and that's a bad moment for the boys.

    I previously did parkour for many years where we do similar roll when jumping from high places. I recently started Judo and noticed even when doing the Judo roll from standing back to standing people smash their feet/heel to the mat at the end making a "thum" sound. Is there a reason for it? In parkour we always wanted our roll to be as silence as possible and roll smoothly on to our feet! Thanks for the nice video!

    • @JudoLife
      @JudoLife 16 днів тому

      Yes It’s basically physics. Since our throw is directed downward with power to smash onto back, the striking simultaneously of feet, thigh, backside hip, edge of chest, arm, counters the opposite gravitational down thrusting forces. It takes residual and impact energy away from the crucial internal organs (heart, brain, etc)

      open weight traditional challenge in judo, many judo federations cut this from their options, as its easier for the heavies, but on occasion a great middle or light weight can perform, check out All Japan Judo Federation University light weight vs heavyweight finals

    • @JudoLife
      @JudoLife Місяць тому

      Basic but strong This works. Perhaps you don’t realise the lineage? Sensei Ron trained under Sensei Rick Littlewood. They trained at Doishisha University and with Kyoto Police, very likely before you were born. Their teacher at Doishisha took a liking to Sensei Rick (RIP) and the teacher was affectionately called Mr Sankaku. Even Sensei Rick was feared on the ground at Tokyo Olympic Games judo by the all Japan judo champion because of this technique. Even through you know it’s coming it often still works and they can’t stop it easily.

    • @JudoLife
      @JudoLife Місяць тому

      You might never see it if you dont do basic judo in a good High School in Japan. Actually studies 10 months at Kokushikan University in Tokyo. That was about 6-8 hours judo a day for 6 days a week at University and everyday at the High School. However the University made up for resting Sunday by training twice on the mats Saturday. . (they overlapped with the High School studying more basics and Uchikomi like this shown, with swinging exaggerated leg, was a regular part of the drills. It was Kawano and Uabuchi Sensei who coached, and as they had 3 Olympic current gold medallists in the dojo in 1984, I beg to disagree as I was there. You are just plain stupid if you think this was the way it's done in randori. It's a drill for out of season basics, for High School students.

    • @de_generate5224
      @de_generate5224 26 днів тому

      No, you WILL see the Japanese do it like that. The point of doing that in uchikomi is to learn the movement, by exaggerating it you will be able to commit it to memory easier. Also it doesnt look like this in competition, lol.

      yes we do. The first day there was lots of lightweight newaza attacks vs turtle. As fights progress newaza sucks the life of of both competitors and most avoid ground to survive the day unless they are sharp at their favourite moves and see opportunity. The Japanese women, and Darius Bilodid, and many more favour the ground.

    In my 7 years of BJJ I was never taught this. Joined a Judo gym 2 months ago and this is the first thing I learned in my 1 st week of class. Didn’t even learn throws until like the next week. At first I was like wtf is this I wanna learn how to throw, I want to spar etc. today, i have don’t have that tension and fear when sparring. The other day during No Gi I got thrown high and hard, but my body was relaxed and landed with the side break fall technique, rolled up and shot for a double leg. I think if I didn’t learn to is I may have tightened up mid air and landed wrong causing a potential injury. Currently doing Judo more than BjJ now 😂
